“DON’T MISS: ‘ZOMBIE TOWN’”
-San Francisco Chronicle

Last year, the town of Harwood, Texas was forever changed when it was overrun by hordes of flesh-eating zombies. This summer, it was again overrun by unwanted invaders when the Catharsis Theatre Collective came to town.

Initial contact was difficult. Whether the townsfolk were still traumatized by the horrific attack of the undead or just naturally wary of well-meaning liberals with MFA degrees was unclear.

Over time, the collective found members of the community who were willing to share their thoughts on the gruesome events that put the town of Harwood on the map. The resulting play is in their exact words.

Like any good documentary play, Zombie Town: A Documentary Play tells the story of a community in crisis to help them heal through the power of theatre. It’s just that this particular crisis was a pretty awesome zombie attack.

Zombie Town: A Documentary Play by Tim Bauer receives its world premiere in collaboration with Sleepwalkers Theatre, SF Weekly’s “Best Theatre Company of 2009.” Shows at the Exit Theatre in San Francisco from Oct 9 to Nov 7, 2009. See sleepwalkerstheatre.com for tickets.
